Alrighty all of you in the CD Challenge (and new people too!)... Post your goals!! March and April is all about my personal sanity. Simon is learning a distracted heel around other dogs. Eventually i'll have to wean him off his food-tube, but for now it's keeping his brain from turning to sludge. He's also learning not to try to run with the cyclists on the other side of the fence, but there's no ribbon for that. Molly and i will continue to trudge through a crossdrive. I still suck at teaching it and Elsie will pummel me at my lesson, but i deserve it. Molly will also be learning how to be near cows in April. I've decided that the weather won't suck and she'll spend the weekend camped out in a crate near the cows with me. She won't be *in* with them, but it's good for her to be around them. My personal training goal is to continue to go to Yoga class and learn to be mindful of my breathing - or lack there of. I'm getting a lot better about managing my anxiety, but practice makes perfect!

Training: Continue working on finishes and fronts. Continue with working on speed for articles. Continue talking between exercises at trials. Just need to gain another 2.5 points in open to be in first place (in my dreams) and another 4 points in utility (in my dreams) in AKC.
Trialing: Work on legs 2 and 3 for our ASCA CDX. work on AKC UDX legs.
Me: Continue with walking 3 floors at MOA (abt 2.5 miles) once back feels better. The new years goal that I set on this forum helped to push me to walk those 3 floors. Find another neuro (been planning this for a year and just too apathetic to do it).

Acer already met one of his goals for the year (APD-Bronze). Not entered in any trials for March or April, so will have to wait to work on other goals until later. Queue-E is going to be working on "staying put" regardless of distraction. We'll see how that goes...

Obedience: Just train here and there to keep Sutton tuned up decently enough to do his AKC CD sometime this summer. We've dragged out the dumb bell again and are "playing" with it in a structured format... any guesses what 2011 goal is for the boy? Agility/Showing: Hopefully finish up another title or two... but I'm not sure yet as I'm trying to take a break for the next month or two... gotta house train the human ickle and there aren't any AKC majors coming up for me to throw Cole at... so yeah. Welcome break at any rate. Other: Keep my resolve to do a litter this summer. All these agility trials are sooo tempting to put the "other" things off... again... and again.. .and again. A friend pointed out that I lose 2 months a year when she's in heat, so I was all oh... good point. Also work on Pixel's attention so she can get her RN sometime this summer too (she's solid on all the moves otherwise).

okay, maybe if i write them down i'll feel some motivation to work them.
argus: polish heeling. It's not bad but needs polish. Kick back stand stays. He's started to click on what i want.
impulse: heel position work, start moving. Introduce stays.
turner: he's between impulse and argus, so working on circles, left turns etc. Intro stays.
i guess those aren't really goals, so practice-ring ready heeling for argus and ring ready stand stays. I/t consistent heeling position with simple short patterns.
ack! Forgot about porter. Walking on loose lead to prove to my instructor that i have a clue how to train a dog. No accidents in house.

She had us shaping the leash work and i'm used to luring. Got me all discombobulated. Then i wouldn't use a treat bag so of course rhe said all our problems stemmed from the treats in my pocket. And then the helper pissed me off (told me not to pet him while training) so i had something to say about that and i'm sure i'm the "difficult" one now.

April will bring Diva's first started sheep trial run which has me really nervous. Between now and then my goal is to work the sheep as often as possible and get up to Chris's at least once to see what happens when we leave home turf?! Gotta love ASCA day of entries . Aside from that I have the weaves back out in the yard (since the snow and mud are gone) and will be working on getting them solid. Anne (Acer's) video inspired me to work harder so that I don't have to hang back at trials in only jumpers classes this spring. Also, I am planning on showing Diva in conformation at the April show so I want to work on conditioning and stacking skills. I am walking/jogging with her every night now but I'd like to bike.

Acer wrote: questnjurny wrote: And then the helper pissed me off (told me not to pet him while training) What were you working on that would prohibit petting while training? We were doing "gotchas". So you grab puppy's collar and treat and say yes or click. Or leg, or tail (should they have one) etc. Apparently just supposed to use the bridge word and not petting. Sorry, I'll pet my puppy if I want to pet my puppy. It's just puppy class. Finding a good class around here is VERY DIFFICULT. The class I really enjoy and have pretty much exactly teh same training style as the instructor only happens in the summers as it's outside, I didn't want to wait that long, I'll be switching everyone to her once the weather improves. I found one that is completely Kohler based, even for baby puppies (um, nope), and the others are an hour and a half drive. This one isn't bad, but some of the "you musts" are a bit odd to me, like you must use a treat bag/pouch, you must only walk your dog on a harness or head halter unless training (hate both those tools) etc. She does tread pretty lightly around me though, she knows that I have about 3x as much experience as her and have trained dogs to a far higher level...and knows I'm going to do my own thing out there (hey if it works, why fix it?). I know I'm being difficult, but we only have two more lessons.
