Shaving Aussies

There are a lot of people that think that shaving their Aussie in the summer will make them cooler. This is a major fallacy. Dogs with non-typical coats may benefit, but if your dog has a well-kept double coat, that hair insulates them.

Some dogs do appreciate the weight of the fur being removed (particular older dogs), but one should really leave that coat alone – it protects them all year long.
