Breed Info
| Mini Aussie Disclaimer - if you are here on this website to find out more about the Miniature Australian Shepherd breed, much of the information here applies as they are derived from Australian Shepherds. With that said, however, despite insistence by the Mini Aussie parent clubs, the Miniature Australian Shepherd (North American Shepherd, Toy Aussie, etc) is not recognized as a variety of the Australian Shepherd. The Australian Shepherd was created to be a stockdog first and foremost, with quality never to be sacrificed in favor of size. While some mini Aussies have been, as claimed, bred down from AKC and ASCA registered Australian Shepherds, the author strongly suspects that crossbreeding of unrelated smaller breeds may be involved with some production of the Miniature Australian Shepherd – buyer beware. |
